The Clayze Teaching Assistant role was a full-time position supporting a joint program funded by the Frank-Ratchye Studio for Creative Inquiry at Carnegie Mellon University and Chatham University's Extended Reality Technology Center.

The work involved coaching students to build novel 3D modeling tools using the Clayze package, Intel RealSense depth cameras, LookingGlass holographic displays, Arduino microcontrollers, and Meta Quest headsets — often simultaneously, often in the same session.

Teaching complex technical systems to beginners requires translating between the logic of the tool and the intuition of the learner. That translation work — making things feel approachable without hiding what they actually are — is something I came to care about and get better at across the two years.
